An inhabitant of Kuummiut, Ewald Mathiassen took the picture about 500 km north of Kuummiut near the large fjord, Kangerlussuaq ... In summer hunters sometimes sail from Kuummiut up to the great fjord to hunt Narewhales ... Ewald saw this bear swim in the fjord, and had a nice picture ... Very close to the bear ... The bear was'nt shot ... At this time bears are protected ... We have a large population of polar bears here on the East Greenland.
