Have had a little break...

Finailly I have time to write in my blog...I've been very busy for many days...My house witch I've rented from our municipality, has been painted inside, cleaned and the keys handed over to our local office...I'ts nice to stay in my little house here is not so much space, but it's confortable..Here are nice and and the heater is very well..The little keratene stove heats all the house for about 4 1/2 dollars for a day....I have TV, telephone and internet so i have what I need..
There is no running water in the house, so every dag i drag a can with 25 l water up to the house...I can get a shower in the school and and in Our servicehouse there are washing machines..It means I got alot of exercise, and it's good for me because in the last few years I've had two to operations in my heart...I try to live in a healthy way, eating many vegetables, lean meat and fish...Fortunately there are many frozen vegetables in the shop...
Since the end of July I've been on a diet and lost 16 kg in weight...It's nice and I feel 10 years younger :-)
I have not photographed so much... The daylight is getting shorter and shorter and I've had many meetings on the school for many afternoons and evenings too..
From now I hope to have time to shoot again.:-)

Sunny October days

Cold sunny and beautiful day in October. It is colder than normal for the season and the weather is fairly stable... It is not normally ... Maybe a sign of the climate changes coming?
Small girls playing near the river....
Many dogs are tied close to the river ...

The many small colorful houses look nice in the sunshine....

But now I'm soon fit for fight again....To all the people who have emailed me in recent times: Sorry, but I have not had the opportunity to respond ... Once I have time I will email to you :-)
Our little house in late September ... freshly painted and renovated....
The house in April 2009 ... The house has not been painted for many years ....

Living room ... the house is heated with electric radiators and paraffin stove ... Even if it freezes many degrees oven heats the whole house ... paraffin (keratine) is very cheap in Greenland...

Kitchen ... Here is the service for 6 people and everything needed for cooking....And baking....

A nice little window in the kitchen ... toward the east ... nice to see the sunrise in the morning ....

Our little house in Kuummiut

Next week I move into our little house ... The big house must be ready so there will hopefully soon move a new teacher in the house. My wife and daughter moved to Denmark in June ... I miss them very much, also my two big kids ... I will stop as a teacher at the school in Kuummiut 1st January 2010. So if you are a teacher trained and can teach English and Danish there is job here in Kuummiut contact our Principal Mikkel Boassen if you are interested kuumalivarpik@greennet.gl I move to Denmark with my family ... We keep our little house , we will spend our holidays here in Kuummiut....

Here is the little house as it looked when I bought the 1st April 2009 ... I do not think the house has been painted in 25 years ... Fortunately, rotting wood is not so easy in polar regions .....

There had been smashed 3 windows in the house when I bought it .. I bought new windows for the house and had them sent up by air freight from Denmark ...

House painted in September 2009 ... I think it's been a part prettier

I am delighted to move into the house ... It has also been renovated inside

Piteraq

The last 24 hours we have had Piteraq (strong Føhns storm) in Kuummiut ... The wind is cold it comes from the ice cap and it is very dry. The humidity outside is now 26% HP.The barometer is rising, so The Piteraq will stop blowing over the next hours. In the village we see no people outside the houses because the wind chill is high. I have trouble keeping warm in my house ...

View west... seen from Kuummiut...
The majority of the vessels in the port has been moved to a place more sheltered.....

High waves in the normally calm inlet......

The wind blows from the north west.... The inlet on the opposite side of Kuummiut, facing north west, so there is the strongest storm.... The sea is more white than blue.....

Kuummiini Alivarpik
Kuummiut
3913 Tasiilaq
Tlf. 984172 Fax 984101 Kumalivarpik@greennet.gl
Skolen:
Vi råder over 7 ”tjenesteboliger” i Kuummiut.
Forsyninger:
Bygde- skibet Johanne Kristina varetager vareforsyningerne i sommerperioden.Derud over beflyves Kuummiut hele året rund med helikopter.
Nordøst for byen Tasiilaq.
