View of the port....

The ice scattered at the entrance to the port and blocking the entrance .. But fishermen and hunters are experts in finding a passage, between the floes, so the boats can get in and out ...

Wind and pack ice from the south

The ice is now close outside the port ... The rope ensures that the ice does not come into the port...

Ice has many different shapes

The boats are an unsafe place ... The Floes can overturn the boats...

Some of the floes are quite large

The mist comes and goes.....

Enclosed...

Again a lovely warm sunny day ... Calm almost all day .. It feels like being in prison here in the house ...The fjord wisper to me come,come.. But I am still sick, and I have to be inside the house ...
Afternoon ...
Snow evaporates now... They are no water from melting snow, the snow just disappears into the air ... At the port is now placed a lockout .. It consists of a very strong rope which is stretched at the entrance to the port ... It prevents icebergs in to enter the port ...

Morning

Calm ... In the horizon I can now see the pack ice ... In a few days, perhaps Ammassalik Fjord is filled with pack ice...

The pack ice

Greenland's eastern coast from an Air Iceland aircraft ... The picture was taken in June ... As you can see the mountains are "wild" sharp and immensely beautiful ... "Storisen" = pack ice that day is not very dispersed. .. Here in February is the ice very close ... What makes sailing of Tasiilaq impossible ... the first ship from Denmark in late June ... You can keep up with the ice spread on this link

Information is written in English ... You can also download the information on my Greenlandic links

The country behind the coast is a paradise for nature lovers, anglers, mountaineers, hunters, kayakers, skiers and dog sled drivers ... And Little Me :-)
